The Problem: You are viewing an image and are supposed to be able to access portions of it or link to other
items based upon where you click, but the wrong items keep coming up.
A Possible Solution: The DPI setting of your monitor may be set to high or too low. While you wouldn't think
that this would be a problem and everything should be automatically corrected for size on the fly, I have found that
that is not always the case. As a possible solution, adjust the setting and retry the imagemap.
To Adjust the Monitor's DPI:
- Right-click on a blank part of your desktop (not in a program window)
- From the menu that displays, click Properties
- Select Settings (usually the tab on the top farthest to the right
- Next, click on Advanced in the lower right
- If General is not the default category shown, click on the General tab at the top.
- Part way down you should see an option for DPI setting. If this is not on Normal size, adjust it
so that it is. If it is on Normal Setting, adjust it to one of the other settings (Large size
for example) The problem usually occurs if it is set on the Large size, in which case switching to
Normal size should fix the problem.
Once you have made the changes, click OK and then OK again to exit the Display Properties screen.
Depending upon your settings, you may or may not have to reboot for the change to take effect. Try the image
map again and hopefully now your mouse-clicks will be interpreted correctly.
