This example assumes you have a zipped file (hangman.zip) containing the
Pocket PC file called hangman.exe that you wish to copy to your Pocket PC.
The file has to be copied to the Pocket PC manually first and cannot be run
directly on your Desktop.
Download the file to a folder on your desktop or laptop PC. For purposes
of these instructions, assume that you have created a folder called stage
and have saved the .zip (in this case hangman.zip) into the directory.
These instructions work for all the other games, not just hangman, simply
substitute the appropriate filenames where they are mentioned.
First double-click hangman.zip file and extract the hangman.exe and readme.txt
files into the stage folder. A good program for unzipping files is winzip
which can be found at www.tucows.com If you haven't already installed winzip,
go to tucows, search for winzip, download and install it. It comes in
handy for many other applications.
When you Double-Click the hangman.zip file, a screen will appear which shows
the files hangman.exe and readme.txt Highlight them both (click on hangman.exe
and then press Control and click on readme.txt Next click the Extract
button on the top menu. A dialog will appear asking where you wish the files
to be extracted to. In the box, type C:\stage and then click the
extract button to the right. The hangman.exe and readme.txt files
should now appear along with the hangman.zip file in the stage folder.
Now make sure your PocketPC is connected to your computer, and start your
ActiveSynch application
Once you have ActiveSynch started and it is connected to your PocketPC,
Click on the Explore icon (should be the second from the right in the
ActiveSynch window)
This will bring up a listing of your PocketPC, it will probably start out in
the My Documents folder.
Double Click on the My Pocket PC icon
(should be an orangish looking thing that sort of looks like a Pocket
PC) and this will take you to the top level of your PocketPC.
Then you should see a listing of files and folders, Double-Click on Windows
...then Double-Click on Start Menu
...then Double-Click on Programs
...and finally, Double-Click on Games
This will display the listing of the Games directory on your PocketPC.
Next, go back to the window with the stage folder open (where you
unzipped the hangman.zip file to.) Right click on hangman.exe and select
copy
Go back to your PPC window (the one where you opened up the Games
folder) and do another Right Click and select paste. This will copy the
hangman.exe file from your computer to your PPC into the Games
folder.
To run it, on your PocketPC, select Start, Programs, Games and you should see
the program listed, just Tap the icon for it with the stylus
and it will load.
